THE DISPLACED HOMEMAKER PROGRAM AND SELF SUFFICIENCY SERVICES

The Displaced Homemaker Program assists individuals who have been out of the workforce for some time; and due to divorce, separation, death, or disability of a spouse or partner, or being displaced by domestic violence, now find themselves as the primary source of household income, and having to return to work. The focus is to help the displaced homemaker and self sufficiency client to obtain or upgrade skills for today’s labor market, and obtain a living wage by providing the services listed below:

  • Asset Promotion and Self-Advocacy Skills
  • Life Skills Classes
  • Computer Literacy Training
  • Financial Management Services
  • High School Equivalency Test Prep

  • Assistance with a job search plan
  • Career assessment and career goal planning
  • Educational advocacy, including research regarding the best education or training program and assistance with applications and financial aid applications
