Just Because I Have A Mental Illness

Just because I have a Mental Illness does not mean I am stupid!

Just because I have a Mental Illness does not mean I am lazy!

Just because I have a Mental Illness does not mean I am incapable!

Just because I have a Mental Illness does not mean I am violent!

Just because I have a Mental Illness does not mean I am worthless!

See, having a Mental Illness is no different than having a Physical Illness.

Mental Illness deserves a sick day just like a Physical Illness.

I did not cause it, therefore please don’t make me feel guilty about it.

And even if I did cause it, please don’t make me feel guilty about it.

Please don’t place your stigmas upon me just because of your own fears and biases against me.

I eat and breathe, just like you!

I am smart, just like you!

I am amazing, just like you!

I have capabilities you could never even imagine.

And my empathy scale is through the roof because of my disorder.

All of this applies know matter if I have:

Bipolar 1 or 2

Schizophrenia

Depression

Anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Panic Disorder

Eating Disorders

And so much more!

So please let’s change what you think about me and how you see me.

Remove your discrimination against me and replace it with love and support.

Please be open to the possibilities that your fears are unwarranted and therefore I deserve the right to be treated with equity.

So, you say:

Who am I?

I am Fearless!

Who are you?
